Peaceful, stable Afghanistan in best interest of all, says COAS

ISLAMABAD – US Charge d’ Affaires to Pakistan Mrs Angela Ageler called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters (GHQ) on Thursday.

“During the meeting, matters of mutual interest and overall regional security situation including recent developments in Afghan peace process were discussed in detail,” says a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate following the meeting.

COAS welcomed President Biden’s announcement of withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan by September 2021. He further reiterated that a prosperous, stable and peaceful Afghanistan is in the best interest of Pakistan in particular and region in general. “COAS also hoped for greater Pak-US bilateral cooperation in all domains in future,” the ISPR said.

The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s sincere efforts for bringing peace and stability in the region especially the Afghan peace process and also assured of US continued assistance for the common cause of peace in Afghanistan.

COAS visits Fauji Foundation Headquarters

Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday visited Fauji Foundation headquarters in Rawalpindi. On the occasion, he was given a detailed briefing on the ongoing and future projects of Fauji Foundation, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate. It said the Army Chief appreciated the performance and commitment of Fauji Foundation towards provision of quality services and assured of his full support in all its future endeavours. During the visit, the Army Chief also inaugurated 100-bed hospital and Foundation University Institute School of Nursing.
