Hearing on application against Elahi’s detention has been adjourned till August 22

Lahore, Aug 18 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) has adjourned further hearing on the application against the detention of former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi till August 22.

Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh heard the case, the petitioner Qaisara Elahi has challenged the detention of her husband Pervaiz Elahi.

At the last hearing, the lawyer of the Punjab government was adamant that the Additional Chief Secretary Home has sent the matter of Parvaiz Elahi’s detention to the provincial cabinet for further action.

During the hearing, Parvaiz Elahi’s lawyer, Amir Saeed Ran, pleaded with the court to declare the detention of Parvaiz Elahi illegal, on August 22.

After adjourning till, the superintendent called for a report from the jail. The court has also sought an explanation for keeping Chaudhry Pervaizalhi in custody for a day and a half before his detention.
