Not worried on annulment of Review and Judgments act by SC: Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD, August 11 (Online): Leader of the house in Senate Ishaq Dar has said there is no worry due to Supreme Court (SC) decision regarding annulment of Review and Judgments act.

“PML-N will evolve its political and legal strategy. I have kept myself isolated from ongoing consultation process with reference to care taker Prime Minister (PM). Election Commission (EC) has 90 days with it for holding election after signing the summary by president. The results of new population consensus were accepted unanimously in the meeting of Council of Common Interests (CCI), he said this in an informal chat with the journalists here Friday.

He went on to say it is not mentioned anywhere in the constitution that it is mandatory to hold general election before Senate polls.

We cannot afford country plunges into vortex again from where we have steered it out, he underlined.

He underlined PM and opposition leader have to make decision about caretaker PM with mutual consultation.

It is now binding on EC to hold election in accordance with new population census. It depends on EC when it completes the job of delimitation of constituencies. If efforts are made then this all process can be completed before March.

He stated neither care taker government can do anything nor EC. Election will be held under new population census.

First decision will be made about care taker PM and then care taker cabinet will be framed with consultation.
