Islamabad, June 17 (Online): Twelve Pakistanis have been rescued in the unfortunate capsizing incident off the coast of Greece.
According to Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch a team of the Embassy of Pakistan has visited them. The Embassy remains in close contact with Greek authorities for recovery of the missing and confirmation/identification of the deceased.”
The boat was traveling from the coastal city of Tobruk in Libya to Italy when it capsized off the coast of Greece. At least 78 people have died and some reports said up to 750 were on board.
The Pakistani nationals who were rescued included Muhammad Adnan Bashir S/o Muhammad Bashir, Distt: Kotli (Id no 5), Haseeb Ur Rehman S/o Habib ur Rehman, Distt: Kotli (Id no 4), Muhammad Hamza S/o Abdul Ghafoor, Distt: Gujranwala (Id no 3) Azmat Khan S/o Muhammad Saleeho, Distt: Gujrat (Id no 54), Muhammad Sunny S/o Farooq Ahmed Distt: Sheikhupura (Id no 2), Zahid Akbar S/o Akbar Ali Distt: Sheikhupura (Id no 53) Mehtab Ali S/o Muhammad Ashraf Distt: Mandi Bahauddin (Id no 7), Rana Husnain S/o Rana Naseer Ahmad Distt: Sialkot (Id no 1), Usman Siddique S/o Muhammad Siddique Distt: Gujrat (Id no 52), Zeeshan Sarwar S/o Ghulam Sarwar, Distt: Gujranwala (Id no 8), Irfan Ahmed S/o Shafi (Hospitlized), and Imran Arain S/o Maqbool (Hospitalized).
