ISLAMABAD, May 08 (Online): The Additional Attorney General (AAG) Munawar Dogal has told Islamabad High Court (IHC) that Fouzia Siddiqui has been issued US visa for five years to meet her sister Dr Aafia Siddiqui in US.
The petition in connection with release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui and her shifting to Pakistan came up for hearing before a single bench of IHC led by Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Monday.
A 3-day meeting from May 29 to 31 with Dr Aafia Siddiqui in US jail has been settled. Fouzia Siddiqui and US counsel Clive Smith will meet Aafia Siddiqui.
Imran Shafiq counsel for petitioner informed the court about the meeting.
The counsel for the petitioner told the court there should be independent doctor for psychological check up.
The court remarked the foreign ministry should help provide independent doctor for psychological check up Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
The court directed Dr Fouzia Siddiqui to file petition whenever any problem arises. The court will hear it on next day.
The hearing of the case was adjourned till June 30.
Talking to media men later outside IHC Dr Fouzia Siddiqui said a confidential letter was given by US to court. It was told in the letter how can Dr Aafia Siddiqui be brought back. The mental and physical torture to which Dr Aafia Siddiqui was subjected to was not told in the court. Dr Aafia Siddiqui was subjected to more torture than other prisoners.
She said according to Smith had the level of torture to which Dr Aafia Siddiqui was subjected to come on record Dr Aafia Siddiqui would never have been awarded punishment.
Imran Shafiq while talking to media men told visa of Dr Fouzia Siddiqui has been issued and now she has to go abroad. Smith will also accompany Dr Fouzia Siddique when she goes to meet her sister Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
Shahbaz Sharif has assured Dr Fouzia Siddiqui about return of Aafia Siddiqui to Pakistan.
