Uncertainty is due to absence of IMF program: Ahsen Iqbal

ISLAMABAD 04 May (Online): Federal minister of development and planning Ahsen Iqbal said uncertainty increased due to absence of International Monitory Fund (IMF) program.

In his address on the occasion of issuing the report of World Bank’s human capital review research Ahsen Iqbal as chief guest said human resources development play important role in countries development.

Our government started those steps again in 2013 but political changes derailed them all again.

Ahsen Iqbal said development budget during our time was $1000 billion which decreased this year to $727 billion.

Further he said Pakistan is structural imbalanced country. Pakistan should enter into countries of mid level income but our structure is like poorest countries.

Federal minister said IMF conditions were made before flood, Pakistan failed to follow some of those conditions due to flood. Uncertainty increased due to absence of IMF program. Pakistan needed to increase income. Pakistan needed to increase job opportunity for women. Energy price decrease in country is needed. Clean and green energy is the solution of this problem. Action needed to pull out poor people from poverty.

He said special program started in 20 poorest districts of the country. Working in cooperation with provinces for education promotion.

In upcoming budget we will try to make 100% children admission to schools. Reforms are needed in education department also. Taking steps for teachers’ training in country. Working is underway on new method of examinations. Working to enlist Pakistani universities into 100 biggest universities of Asia.

We will encourage students towards business instead of jobs, said minister.

Acting country director of World Bank said on this occasion that 230 million children in Pakistan are out of schools. Huge number of children is facing food scarcity.

Further he said large number of woman do not have education opportunity.

Vice president World Bank said on this occasion ‘I love Pakistan, my mother belongs to Karachi. She told me about Pakistan.’

Vice president said we know Pakistan is facing economic problem but Pakistan should continue its work for human development. Pakistan could enter into mid level income country from lower income countries list.
Everyone has to work to pull out Pakistan from these difficulties. Use available resource in best way.
