Vaccinations of people aged 60 and above to begin from Wednesday

ISLAMABAD   –  Head of the National Coordination and Operations Centre (NCOC), Asad Umar, on Sunday said that the vaccination drive for the people aged 60 and above will begin from March 10.

In a tweet, he said that the vaccinations will be held in reverse order of age which, he explained, means the oldest person who has registered will be vaccinated first. Full details will be issued today, he added.

Meanwhile, Pakistan on Sunday morning reported 39 more deaths and 1780 new cases of Covid-19. 

Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir collectively reported 261 cases and two deaths over the past 24 hours, according to the government data. Islamabad reported 190 cases and 2 deaths, AJK 70 cases while GB reported 1 case. Similarly, Punjab recorded more than 1,000 new cases for first time since July 2020. Punjab recorded 1,044 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, according to the data. The provincial Covid-19 tally has risen to 177,008. Punjab also recorded 18 more deaths from the virus, taking the total number of fatalities to 5,552.
