NAB committed to eradicate corruption

ISLAMABAD   –  A delegation of victims of Lasani Chicken and Chicks and Lasani Oil Traders met Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal, Chairman National Accountability Bureau at NAB Headquarters on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the victims informed Chairman NAB that Anis-ur-Rehman, Chief Executive of Lasani Chicken & Chicks and Lasani Traders and other members of his group were involved in profiteering, fraud and deception all over Pakistan.

They are not returning the money of about Rs 80 billion to the people but also disappearing by closing their offices and telephones, they stated.

Chairman NAB took strict notice of the fraud of nearly Rs 80 billion under the guise of high profits, fraud and deception with the victims of Lasani Chicken and Chicks and Lasani Traders and directed the DG NAB Lahore to set up a special cell in NAB Lahore and to take action against accused in accordance with the law and 46,000 victims should be given back their looted money. 

Chairman NAB said that NAB had made Double Shah a single king and about Rs 7 billion has  already been reimbursed to the victims.

Besides, Rs 14 billion has been reimbursed to the victims of Fazaia Housing Society Karachi, he said.

He further said: This is a great achievement of the NAB. The Accountability Court in Islamabad, in reference to NAB, imposed a fine of Rs 9 billion against Mufti Ehsan and his associates in the Madaraba scandal.

NAB seeks to eradicate corruption from the country and recover money looted from corrupt elements, he added.

He assured the victims of Lasani Chicken and Chicks and Lasani Oil Traders that all resources would be utilised to bring this scandal to a logical conclusion in accordance with the law.

He said that no effort would be spared to recover the amount of Rs 80 billion from the victims of the biggest robbery.
