LAHORE – November 10 (ONLINE) Jamat-e-Islami emir Siraj ul Haq on Thursday invited country’s political top brass to discuss a ‘three point agenda’ to avoid any political chaos.
The three points, as per JI Emir are – Civil Supremacy, electoral reforms and apolitical role of military establishment.
Addressing a press conference with his senior party leadership, Siraj said the ‘establishment’ had promised its ‘apolitical’ role in country’s politics, and claimed that now it was political parties’ responsibility to legislate on the matter.
“I talked to PTI Chairman Imran Khan comprehensively on all issues. My party will talk to other political parties as well to initiate meaningful dialogue on the matter,” he said, as he told reporters about his recent meeting with PTI Chairman Imran Khan at Zaman Park.
He urged political parties to sign a new ‘social contract’ to make the military establishment ‘apolitical’ forever. “We want the supremacy of law and constitution. We suggest that Election Commission of Pakistan be made financially and administratively independent,” he maintained.
The JI Chief said impact of capital on elections must be eliminated forever to bring electoral reforms.
“Unfortunately, the role of ruling parties doesn’t depict they want institutions to nourish,” he regretted.
