Blow for Australia as Ashton Agar ruled out of second test

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka – July 2 (ONLINE) Australia face set back in ongoing test series as Ashton Agar’s hopes of rejoining the Ausie camp failed because of his side strain injury, media reported Saturday.

According to a cricket website, Agar’s post will be kept by Mitchell Swepson when the second Test starts on Friday.

Leg spinner Swepson had taken five wickets in the first match of the series, which eventually was won by the visitors.

“I was really happy with Swepo,” Australia’s captain Pat Cummins had lauded the leggie.

“A couple of key breakthroughs in the first innings and then [on Friday], top order wickets. Really valuable. He controlled the tempo of the game, he had some batters come really hard at him. I thought he bowled beautifully,” Cummins had added.

It must be recalled that Agar was ruled out of the second Test on Saturday morning with Australia bringing Jon Holland into their 17-man squad.
