Opposition parties’ joint alliance formed in Senate

Islamabad – February 07 (Online): Opposition parties have become united against government in Senate as well and announced to bring white paper while strongly protesting against the attitude of Senate chairman.

A meeting of parliamentary leaders of opposition parties was held here Monday.

During meeting, serious concern was expressed on behavior of Chairman Senate with opposition parties and a few members even suggested to table no-trust move against him immediately.
Talking to media men after the meeting PML-N senator Irfan Siddiqui and PPP Senator Taj Haider told the senators have exploded in senate session today against the behavior of chairman Senate because establishment of standing committees, convening meetings of the sub committees and non providing place for sub committees is injustice with the opposition.
Opposition questions are disposed off in the chamber and no reason is told about disposing off these questions.

Minister for parliamentary affairs Ali Muhammad Khan give answers to all questions in the house and the remaining ministers don’t come. We are collecting all the details against the behavior of chairman Senate because some of opposition members are not afforded opportunity to speak in the house. A white paper will be worked out in the form of memorandum which will be presented by us to chairman. We will request him to improve his attitude.

They said that leniency was shown to government on several occasions in the senate and facility was provided but now it will not be done so. One sided attitude of the chairman Senate will not be tolerated now.

They said it has been decided opposition parties will become more active in the Senate now. An anti government alliance of opposition parties has been forged inside the Senate like the alliance outside the senate. We will counter government highhandedness in unison. Opposition will forge joint strategy inside the parliament.

Dilawar Khan group has no relevance with us as they have always sided with the government, they indicated.
