Sheikh Rashid expresses grief over loss of lives in Ghotki train collision

ISLAMABAD, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Monday expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the horrific train accident in Ghotki, that killed about 30 passengers and wounded several.

“Extremely saddened by the train accident in Ghotki, the tragedy is heart-wrenching,” minister said while speaking to a Private news channel.

“My deepest condolences with the families of those who lost their loved ones and I pray that the injured recover quickly. Have asked officials to provide immediate assistance that is required”.

“I spoke to Railway Minister and have assured that our government will provide whatever help is needed in the rescue operations,” he said.

This is not the time to do politics but Main Line (ML)-1 project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is the only way to help control railways accidents, he added.

He assured that PM Imran Khan was honestly working and firmly stands with the issues of public and his government would start work on ML1 from Sindh on priority basis.

The ML-1 is very important for reducing railway accidents,” he stressed.

he further said that troops of Pakistan Army and Pakistan Rangers Sindh have reached the spot immediately to assist the civil administration in the operation. The bodies and injured are being shifted to nearby hospitals.
