An 82-year-old husband and his 80-year-old wife were sitting on their porch in rural Texas, watching the sunset.
A young neighbor walked by and said, “You two have been married forever. What’s the secret?”
The old man smiled and said, “Simple. We made a deal on our wedding day.”
The neighbor leaned in.
“What kind of deal?”
The wife answered, “Whenever we had an argument, the one who was wrong had to apologize.”
“And what if nobody was wrong?” the neighbor asked.
The old man chuckled.
“Then I had to apologize.”
The neighbor laughed. “For sixty years?”
The wife nodded proudly.
“Yep.”
The neighbor looked puzzled. “So how many times was she wrong?”
The old man thought for a moment.
“Twice.”
The wife shot him a look.
The old man quickly added,
“Sorry, dear… make that once.”
The wife folded her arms.
The old man sighed and said,
“See? Sixty years and the system still works.” 😄
