‘Days of Our Lives’ And ‘Jane the Virgin’ Actor Dead At 39

Francisco San Martin, an actor known for his roles in Days of Our Lives and Jane the Virgin, has died at the age of 39.

San Martin, who portrayed Dario Hernandez on the long-running soap opera, was found by police at his Los Angeles home on January 16.

While the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has yet to confirm an official cause of death, reports indicate that the actor is believed to have died by suicide, according to the Hollywood LA News.

San Martin first appeared in Days of Our Lives in 2011, playing a character initially introduced as a thief who later turned out to be an investigator. He appeared on the show for six months before his character moved to Argentina, later to be recast by Jordi Vilasuso in 2016-2017.

In addition to his role on Days of Our Lives, San Martin appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful as Mateo, a groundskeeper, in 2017. That same year, he landed a recurring role on Jane the Virgin as Fabian Regalo del Cielo, an estate manager involved in a brief and ill-fated romance with Gina Rodriguez’s character. His character appeared in seasons 3 and 4 of the series.

San Martin’s acting credits also include the acclaimed Steven Soderbergh film Behind the Candelabra, starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon.

Originally from Mallorca, Spain, San Martin was raised in Montana and began his acting journey in children’s theater.

Tributes have poured in, including one from his Days of Our Lives co-star Camila Banus, who played his on-screen sister, Gabi.

“Pepe, what can I say but I love you and rest in peace, my friend. Love you mucho mucho mucho; I wish I had told you more,” Banus shared on Instagram, as reported by Forbes.
