A Gentle Light Lost: Beloved TV Icon, Dies at 54

On July 20, 2025, Warner drowned off Cocles (Playa Grande) Beach, Limón Province, Costa Rica. Swimming with his young daughter, he was caught in a strong rip current. While surfers and volunteer lifeguards rushed to assist—surfers reached his daughter, and the Costa Rican Red Cross administered CPR—he was pronounced dead at the scene. An official autopsy confirmed accidental asphyxiation by submersion.

Local resources noted the beach lacks regular lifeguard patrols, and warning signs in place often go overlooked.
