Mick Ralphs, the founding lead guitarist of the iconic rock band Bad Company, has passed away at the age of 81. His death was announced on Monday, June 23. No cause of death was disclosed.

Ralphs, known for his soulful guitar work and memorable songwriting, was remembered fondly by his longtime bandmates Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke.

“Our Mick has passed, my heart just hit the ground,” said Rodgers, 75. “He has left us with exceptional songs and memories. He was my friend, my songwriting partner, an amazing and versatile guitarist with the greatest sense of humour. Our last conversation just days ago ended in laughter—but it won’t be our last. There are so many memories of Mick that will always make us smile. Condolences to everyone who loved him, especially his one true love, Susie. I will see you in heaven.”

Kirke, also 75, added: “He was a dear friend, a wonderful songwriter, and an exceptional guitarist. We will miss him deeply.”

Ralphs’ legacy lives on through his influential music and the countless lives he touched through his art.
