One Saturday evening, the whole family was gathered in the living room when Dad proudly announced he had upgraded the home security system.

“Nobody can break into this house now,” he declared. “I’ve set a secret password for everything.”

Mom rolled her eyes. “You can’t even remember where you parked the car yesterday.”

“That’s different,” Dad said confidently. “This password is unforgettable.”

The next morning, Dad stood in front of the alarm panel looking confused.

Mom asked, “What’s wrong?”

“The system wants the password.”

“Well, what is it?”

“If I remembered that,” Dad sighed, “I wouldn’t be standing here.”

Their teenage daughter laughed. “Maybe write it down somewhere.”

Dad shook his head. “Absolutely not. That’s a security risk.”

Five minutes later, the family found him searching frantically through drawers.

“What are you looking for?” asked his son.

Dad whispered, “The piece of paper where I wrote down the password.”

The son burst out laughing. “I thought writing it down was a security risk!”

Dad nodded seriously.

“It is.”

“Then why did you write it down?”
