Women’s empowerment essential for society’s progress; says Shazia Rizwan

RAWALPINDI, Mar 10 (APP):Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture, Punjab, Shazia Rizwan, has said that empowering women and protecting their rights was the need of the hour as they played a vital role in the progress and prosperity of society.

She expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held in connection with International Women’s Day at Islamabad Sweet Home.

The event was organized by the Islamabad Founder Lions Club and attended by social workers, prominent personalities and women from different walks of life.

She said that women in Pakistan were proving their capabilities in every field of life. She emphasized that a strong and prosperous society could only be built by providing women with better opportunities in education, health and employment.
CEO of Islamabad Sweet Homes, Zamurd Khan, welcomed the guests and highlighted the organisation’s services for the education, training and welfare of orphaned and underprivileged children.

He said the institution was continuously striving to provide a better future for children and was moving forward with the support of philanthropists from society.

During the ceremony, children of Islamabad Sweet Homes presented colourful performances, including a patriotic song in support of the Pakistan Army, which received applause from the audience.

At the end of the ceremony, tribute was paid to women who had rendered remarkable services in different fields.
Zamurd Khan presented a commemorative shield to the chief guest, Shazia Rizwan.
