LAHORE, June 12 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered to finalize consultative process and make amendment in immigration department rules to allow women to retain name of father in the National Identity Card (NIC) .
Justice Asim Hafiz of high court gave this order on the petition filed by Mehr Bano Langrial.
It was said in the petition a married woman has right to retain her father’s name on her NIC.
LHC has directed immigration and passport department to complete within three months amendment in rules allowing the women to retain their fathers names in computerized NIC and passport.
