WASHINGTON Nov 19 (Online): White House spokesman has said that there was no deal between Israel and Hamas regarding the release of hostages and a ceasefire.
A White House spokesman took to social media to deny the US newspaper’s claim of a cease-fire agreement, saying the US is continuing to work towards an agreement between the two sides but no deal has yet been reached.
The American newspaper Washington Post has claimed that Israel, the United States and Hamas have reached a temporary agreement for a five-day pause in the fighting in exchange for the release of hostages in Gaza.
Israel and Hamas have agreed to a US-backed deal and both sides have agreed to a ceasefire and the release of hostages.
The US newspaper said a five-day pause in the fighting had been agreed, with around 50 hostages being freed in the first 24 hours.
On the other hand, the spokesperson of Al-Qassam Brigade, Abu Obeidah, has said that the contact with some groups responsible for the protection of the Israeli hostages has been cut off.
Spokesman al-Qassam Brigade has also expressed his interest in the release of 70 Israeli hostages in return for a five-day ceasefire.
On the other hand, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has demanded from American President Joe Biden an immediate ceasefire and provision of aid to Gaza.
In his statement, President Mahmoud Abbas appealed to US President Joe Biden to intervene to stop the Israeli action.
