Election process in Pakistan be carried out according to laws, US demands

Washington SEPTEMBER 14 (Online): America has once again demanded that the electoral process in Pakistan be carried out according to laws.

During a press briefing in Washington spokesperson of US state department Matthew Miller said that we insist on free, fair and timely elections in Pakistan like other countries.

Matthew Miller said that we urge authorities that the electoral process be taken forward in accordance with the laws of Pakistan and human rights, fundamental freedom and rule of law be respected.

He said that Pakistan is an important partner of US. They value Pakistan-US relations at public and government level.

Even earlier, spokesperson of US state department said in a statement that US insists on free elections in Pakistan but does not support any political party or candidate.

It is pertinent to say that President Dr Arif Alvi has suggested in a letter written to Chief Election Commissioner that elections be held on 6 November in country.
