Tahmeem grabs two gold medal in KP U21 Games Athletic Meet

PESHAWAR, Mar 23 (APP): Peshawar Tahmeen Ghandapur grabbed two gold medals in the ongoing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U21 Women Games Athletic Meet being played here at the Tartan Track of Qayyum Sports Complex on Wednesday.

Tahmeen Ghandapur, grand daughter of former national athlete Abdur Rehman Ghandapur, claimed gold medal in the 100m sprint race by clocking 12.30sec and another gold medal in the 400m.

Tahmeen Ghandapur also got the fastest athlete trophy as well, followed by another promising athlete Zargona Bangash took second position and Rasheeda Khan of District Charsadda took third position.

Several other events have been decided in the ongoing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Under-21 Games organized by Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Additional Deputy Commissioner Charsadda Sania Safi, Director Sports Rashida Ghaznavi was the special guest on the occasion.

Director Development Saleem Raza, District Sports Officer Charsadda Tehseenullah, Administrative Officer Syed Jaffer Shah and other officials were also present.

According to the results, Tahmeen of Peshawar came first, Zarghona second and Rasheeda of Charsadda third in the athletics 100 meter race. In the 400m race, Peshawar’s Tahmeen came first, Mardan’s Freshena second and Peshawar’s Aqsa Ali got bronze medal respectively.

In the 800m race, two sisters from Peshawar, Hasna Gohar Ali and Hafsa Gohar Ali took first and second position while Hasina from Charsadda took third position. Saeedah Qureshi wins bronze medal. In the shot put Mushkan from Mardan district won gold, Ayman from Nowshera won silver and Saeeda Qureshi from Bannu bagged bronze medal.

Athletics event being played at Peshawar Sports Complex, Volleyball University of Peshawar and Net Ball, table tennis, tug of war and badminton competitions are being played at Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex, Charsadda.

Similarly, a cricket event has been organized at Bamkhel Sports Complex, Swabi. Table tennis event is being held at Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex, Charsadda. Kohat beat Dir Payan 3-0, Swat beat Chitral Payan 3-0, Abbottabad beat Hangu 2-0, Malakand beat Buner 3-0, Mardan beat Upper Dir 3-0, Swabi beat Nowshera 3-0, Abbottabad in badminton Beat Bannu 3-0.
In the tug of war being played at Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex, Charsaddda, Mardan defeated Khyber 2-1, Nowshera defeated Swat 2-0, Peshawar defeated Dera Ismail Khan 2-1 and Mansehra defeated Mohmand 2-0.
In volleyball being played at University of Peshawar, Dera Ismail Khan defeated Swabi 15-8, 15-12, Dir Payan defeated Lakki Marwat 15-13, 15-10, while Charsadda defeated Kohat 15-12, 15-9 and qualified for the in the next round.

In netball being played at Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex, Charsadda, Haripur defeated Chitral Bala 11-8, Nowshera defeated Orakzai 16-12, Mardan defeated Dera Ismail Khan 20-12 and Abbottabad defeated Mohmand 17-12.
