PDM government purchased 8 new vehicles worth Rs 70 million in violation of its austerity drive

ISLAMABAD, Dec 28 (Online): In a report presented in Senate it has been disclosed that PDM government kept on violating its own policy of austerity.

During Shehbaz Sharif regime PDM government while ignoring austerity campaign purchased 8 new vehicles worth Rs over 70 million despite ban.

It has been told in the documents presented by in -charge minister for cabinet division central pool of cars , cabinet division purchased these 8 vehicles for foreign delegations during the period from April 2022 to February 2023 for protocol duties.

Cabinet division had sent application to ministry of finance to purchase 15 vehicles. But approval was given for 8 vehicles only.

Among them one 20 seaters Toyota VIP coaster was purchased at the cost of Rs 1 crore 71 lac 54 thousands, one 14 seaters high roof of Rs 10772000, 6 corolla cars of 1800 at the cost of Rs over 4 crore and this way 8 vehicles were purchased at the cost of Rs 7.28 crore.
These vehicles were purchased despite the fact ban was imposed by the then prime minister Shehbaz Sharif on purchase of new vehicles, furniture and luxury goods. Despite this ban these vehicles were purchased. This way government kept on violating its own austerity policy.
