WASHINGTON, June 28 (Online): US Supreme Court (SC) has allowed the Muslim employees to offer prayers in congregation in schools and government buildings.
The court has declared the restriction on offering congregational prayer in schools and state buildings in US alien to the first constitutional amendmente which ensures the respect for the religious norms of the employees.
The US SC judges once again interpreted the constitutional amendment which relates to assertion of their religious creed at their working places.
The US federal judges while allowing the Muslim employees to offer their prayers in congregation in schools and all state buildings remarked the restriciteon is in conflict with the first amendment of the constitution which ensures the protection for the creeds of employees.
6 judges announced judgment in favor of congregational prayers while 3 judges opposed it.
This issue rose when a former footballcoach of Washington high school Joseph kennedy had to lose his job for according permission to offer prayer in congregaion at the point of 50 yards line after match.
He had filed a case taking the plea he had allowed to offer prayer in congregation under the norms of religious harmony which does not constitute breach of the constitution.
