SC directs actress Sophia Mirza to complete till today documents pertaining to return of her children from UAE

ISLAMABAD, Jan 13 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has directed model and actress Sophia Mirza to complete till today (Friday) the documents pertaining to return of her children from UAE.

The court gave these orders during the course of hearing of Soofia Mirza daughters kidnapping case here Thursday.

The court while summoning progress report within a week has maintained interior ministry should complete Arabic translation of the documents pertaining to return of Sophia Mirza children from Dubai and foreign ministry should send these documents to UAE embassy today for verification.

The case of kidnapping of children of model and actress Sophia Mirza came up for hearing before a 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Maqbool Baqir here Thursday.

DG FIA told the court during the hearing of the case that red warrant of handing over of the accused Umar Farooq, former husband of actress Sophia Mirza by the Interpol are pending with Interpol. Team has been set up to follow red warrants and other matters. The accused Umar Farooq is defending red warrants.

Sophia Mirza took the plea the children have not come back even after lapse of 10 years.

Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar remarked the children were kidnapped from Pakistan and were taken to UAE. The children were kidnapped from here and FIA has failed to bring back them. The daughters need the mother and mother needs the daughters.

He further remarked translating the documents in Arabic takes how much time. FIA did what for bringing back daughters of Sophia Mirza.

Justice Maqbool Baqir remarked FIA spent 12 years to prepare the documents for bringing back the children to Pakistan.

The court ordered Sophia Mirza to prepare the documents regarding return of her children from UAE till today (Friday).

It may be mentioned that federal government and actress Sophia Mirza have filed petition against former husband of the actress for kidnapping the daughters of actress and smuggling them abroad.
