Sarwar asks PDM to reconsider ‘Long March’ plan in national interest

LAHORE   –  Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has asked the PDM to reconsider its ‘Long March’ protest call in the national interest.

“There is no doubt that the number of corona cases in Pakistan is increasing rapidly. Therefore, I would like to ask the opposition to reconsider the March 26th ‘Long March’ in view of the dangers of corona. I hope the opposition will not endanger the lives of the people for the sake of politics”, he said this while talking to mediamen on the occasion of his visit to Lahore Race Club on Sunday.

Governor Punjab said that even when Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was judicially assassinated, the PPP  stood by the country because every Pakistani must first ensure the protection of national interests. “Similarly, on the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto, the PPP raised the slogan of ‘’Pakistan Khappay’’ in the national interest. The Opposition parties should give priority to national interests”, he said. Ch Sarwar also said that it was not in the interest of the nation to criticize Pakistan’s Armed forces. “Unfortunately, the Opposition parties are trying to make the national institutions controversial in every issue.

The statement of PML-N’s Javed Latif is against the national interest and there is grief and anger in the entire nation about his statement”, he observed.

“As far as threats to the PML-N leadership are concerned, only the party can tell what the real issue is.  But whatever the circumstances, the PML-N should also put national interests first. The protection of the lives and property of the people is the responsibility of the government and we will ensure this protection”, he said replying to a question.

To another question, the Governor said there was no danger of no-confidence motion against Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. “The entire party including Prime Minister Imran Khan stand with the Chief Minister of Punjab and we will continue to serve the public. I do not see any protest rally of PDM against the Punjab government either ”, he added.

Replying to another question about the Opposition challenging the results of the Chairman Senate in the court, the Governor said that the PDM should accept the results of the Chairman Senate as Sadiq Sanjarani won the election in accordance with the constitution.
