ISLAMABAD – As the timeline for Senate elections is nearing, Prime Minister Imran Khan has intensified his consultations with parliamentarians of his party and is accordingly issuing them directives on development schemes in their respective constituencies.
According to official sources, the Prime Minister on Saturday had a series of interactions with Members of National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies and asked them to ensure timely completion of the development projects. During the meeting, the MPs discussed the ongoing development schemes in their respective constituencies.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister was briefed about the steps being taken for the relief of people in Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin. They also discussed the repair and extension of road infrastructure in the two districts.
Separately, MNAs Asma Qadeer and Ghulam Bibi Bharwana also called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and discussed issues relating to the Billion Tree Tsunami project as well as development schemes in their constituencies.
Asma Qadeer briefed the Prime Minister about Sustainable Household Project.
The project will not only help in meeting needs of a middle class house but also contribute to livelihood.
The proposed project is not only environment friendly for minimum carbon footprint but also has the capacity to transform a house into a sustainable unit.
Asma Qadeer felicitated the Prime Minister on positive results of Billion Tree Tsunami project and also apprised him of the ongoing steps towards tree plantation in which the NHA is supporting her.
Ghulam Bibi Bharwana also briefed the Prime Minister about the ongoing development projects in Jhang. She also presented a proposal of provision of gas in Sial Sharif in view of the growing demands.
Commending these steps, the Prime Minister said women parliamentarians are playing an effective role for resolution of problems in their constituencies in general and of the women in particular, which is quite welcoming.
On Friday, the Prime Minister also held interactions with the party’s MPs from Swabi district including Usman Khan Tarakai, Senator Liaqat Tarakai, Sharam Tarakai and Muahmmad Ali Tarakai and discussed issues relating to Sawabi.
Meanwhile, PTI Chief Whip in the Senate Sen. Sajjad Khan also called on the Prime Minister and briefed him about the PTI’s retiring party members from the Senate. Party’s strategy about Senate elections to be held in March also came under discussion.
Meanwhile, in a tweet, the Prime Minister said the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust (SKMT) Cancer Hospital in Karachi would turn out to be one of the most modern medical facilities of the country.
“This will InshaAllah be the biggest SKMT hospital and the most modern in Pakistan,” Prime Minister tweeted and expressed satisfaction that the construction work on SKMT Karachi was going on full pace.
‘Work on SKMT Karachi basement (is) proceeding at a good pace after a slowdown during the COVID crisis,” he added.
