Islamabad, April 7 (Online): The forty-first meeting of the National Security Council was held on Friday at the Prime Minister’s House.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over the meeting in which federal ministers, chairman, joint chief of staff committee, Service Chiefs and senior officials of related institutions participated.

The meeting was held in continuation of the National Security Committee meeting held after the terrorist attack on January 2, 2023 in Peshawar Police Lines.

At the beginning of the meeting, tributes were paid to the martyrs of the Giyari sector tragedy on 7th April 2012.

The meeting emphasized on comprehensive national security in which the relief to the masses was central and informed the forum that the government was taking steps in this regard.

The meeting acknowledged the sacrifices and efforts of the security forces for providing lasting peace to the nation. The forum reiterated its commitment to continue its activities till the end of terrorism from Pakistan.

The Committee termed the recent spate of terrorism as the result of a soft corner and thoughtless policy towards the TTP which is completely contrary to public expectations and aspirations, resulting in terrorism.

Not only the terrorists were allowed to return without hindrance, but dangerous TTP terrorists were also released from jails in the name of confidence building.

As a result of the support given by these returning dangerous terrorists and various terrorist organizations present in large numbers in Afghanistan, peace and stability in the country was dispersed which was the result of countless sacrifices and continuous efforts.

The meeting agreed to launch an all-out comprehensive operation with nation and government support, which will rid the country of the menace of terrorism with renewed vigor and determination.

This comprehensive, all-round and comprehensive operation to eliminate the scourge of terrorism in all its forms from Pakistan will also include efforts at the political, diplomatic security, economic and social levels.

A high-level committee has also been formed in this regard and will make recommendations regarding its implementation and limitations within two weeks.

In the meeting, the successful operation of Lead Intelligence Agency was greatly appreciated in which they arrested the most wanted terrorist Gulzar Imam alias Shambay, who was the founder and leader of terrorist Baloch National Army and ‘Brass’ and was involved in various terrorist activities for a long time.

The Committee strongly condemned the efforts to spread foreign sponsored poisonous propaganda against state institutions and their leadership on social media under the guise of ulterior motives and division of growing hatred in the society and said it affects national security.

Reiterating the determination to thwart the nefarious intentions of the enemies of the country, the committee said that all possible efforts will be made to maintain the peace and order achieved by the great sacrifices and continuous efforts of the martyrs.
