SRINAGAR – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday wished his Pakistan counterpart Imran Khan on Pakistan’s national day.
In a letter addressed to Pakistan Prime Minister Khan, PM Modi said, “As neighbouring country, India desires cordial relations with the people of Pakistan. For this, an environment of trust, devoid of terror and hostility, is imperative.”
The letter comes as second consecutive message by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to his Pakistani counterpart within a span of few days, Indian media reported late Tuesday.
PM Modi has also conveyed his best wishes to people of Pakistan for dealing with the challenges of COVID-19.
The top leadership of India has maintained the practice of greeting the people of Pakistan and its leaders on their national day on March 23 and Independence Day on August 14. Earlier, PM Modi had also wished Khan for speedy recovery as he tested positive for COVID-19.
