Imran Khan awarded, 14 years imprisonment, Bushra Bibi 7 years in 190 million pounds reference

RAWALPINDI, JAN 17 (ONLINE): Judge Nasir Javed Rana of Accountability Court (AC) has awarded 14 years imprisonment and fine Rs 10 lac to PTI founder Imran Khan and 7 years imprisonment and Rs 5 lac fine to Bushra Bibi in 190 milion pounds reference.
In the event of non payment of fine amount both the accused will have to undergo imprisonment of 6 and 3 months more respectively.

The court has ordered to Take Al-Qadir university into government custody.

The court has also declared the accused disqualified for any public or government office for 10 years besides imposing ban on both for them for transaction with financial institution or bank.
Jail authorities took Bushra Bibi into their custody following announcement of decision by the court.

Former chairman Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were present in the court at the time of announcement of decision.
NAB team under prosecutor general and PTI chairman Barrister Gohar, Aleema Khan, Suleman Akram and Shoaib Sahaheen were also present in the court.

PTI founder Imran Khan was convicted under Section 9(a)(ii)(iv)(vi) of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999, for corruption and corrupt practices while Bushra Bibi has been convicted under Section 9(a)(xii) of the same ordinance for “aiding, assisting, and abetting” corruption and corrupt practices.
Extra ordinary security arrangements were made at the time of announcement of decision.

Additional strength of 6 police stations was deployed around the jail.
The court had completed the hearing of the case on Dec 18 but reserved the judgment until Dec 23. Later, the court fixed Jan 6 as the new date for announcing the verdict and then Jan 13, but it was delayed thrice.
