ISLAMABAD, JANUARY 02 (ONLINE): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought reply on non participation of Pakistan ambassador in US in the meetings of Pakistani delegation with US Congressmen in Dr Aafia Siddiqui case.
The court has also sought details of the visits undertaken by Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif and foreign minister of other countries following the filing of mercy appeal in respect of Aafia Siddiqui .
The court has ordered foreign ministry to seek stance of Pakistan embassy in US and file report.
IHC has issued written order regarding the hearing of the case related to release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui and her return to Pakistan.
The written order of court said as per Foreign Ministry no reply to the letter written by PM Shehbaz Sharif to US president has come . Pakistan embassy in US played its role during presence of Pakistani delegation in US. Role was played in connection with meetings of Pakistani delegation with state department and Aafia Siddiqui.
This is too the fact that Pakistan ambassador in US spared no time for playing front line role .
Justice Sardar Ejaz Khan has issued written order.
The court has said in its remarks Pakistan ambassador should have participated in the meetings of the delegation representing Pakistan.
The court said in written order Pakistan ambassador did not participate in the important meetings held from December 3 to 11. It was hoped that Pakistan ambassador would have spared some time from his busy schedule and participated in the meetings.
Clear support was being expected from Pakistan ambassador on the matter raised in PM Shehbaz Sharif letter. Pakistan ambassador distanced himself from meetings of Pakistan delegation with US congressmen.
The court ordered foreign ministry to file reply on declaration of counsel for Dr Aafia Siddiqui in US.
According to court written order, Dr Fouzia Siddiqui told visa was denied to her as per her visa portal.
According to Dr Fouzia it is worrying matter that her entry will be stopped in connection with meetings in the mid of January.
Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan remarked foreign ministry should endeavor according to its power that it does not happen so. Foreign ministry should try Dr Fouzia Siddiqui does not face unnecessary difficulties in her travelling.
IHC said in its order that case be fixed on January 13 for next hearing.
