ISLAMABAD, Jan 25 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has rejected bail plea of one Wasim Zeb allegedly involved in committing fraud of billion of rupees with the people in the name of crypto currency.
SC has directed NAB to file reference against the accused soon.
A two members bench of SC presided over by Justice Umar Ata Bandial took up bail plea of accused Wasim Zeb for hearing Tuesday.
Justice Qazi Amin while reprimanding NAB for delay in filing reference remarked non filing the references for two years is criminal negligence of NAB. NAB does not file reference and the responsibility is shifted to the courts.
NAB prosecutor told the court the accused Wasim Zeb collected Rs 1.7 billion from the citizens through fraud. The money which was collected from the citizens was put in crypto currency account. Hundreds of the affectees have recorded their statements against the accused.
