China to provide $100m to Palestine to alleviate human crisis in Gaza

BEIJING, Dec 5 (APP): Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced that China will provide US$100 million in assistance to Palestine to help alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and support recovery and reconstruction efforts, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian said on Friday.

Responding to a question during his regular press briefing, Lin stated that during President Xi’s joint meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron yesterday, the Chinese president reaffirmed that China and France will work together for a comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue. At the same event, President Xi formally announced the new assistance package of US$100 million.

Lin Jian noted that it has been over two years since the latest conflict in Gaza began, resulting in an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. China remains deeply concerned. Since the outbreak of the conflict, China has provided multiple batches of humanitarian supplies to Gaza through the UN, Egypt, Jordan, and other channels—aid that has been welcomed and appreciated by the Palestinian government and people.

“We believe the latest assistance worth US$100 million, announced by President Xi Jinping and dedicated to humanitarian relief and post-conflict reconstruction, will help improve Gaza’s humanitarian situation and reduce the suffering of the Palestinian people,” Lin added.

The spokesperson said President Xi has described the Palestinian question as a test of the global governance system, urging the international community to confront the root causes of the conflict, assume responsibility, and take concrete steps to correct historical injustices while upholding fairness and justice.

China, he stressed, firmly supports the just cause of the Palestinian people in restoring their legitimate national rights. Beijing will continue to work relentlessly with the international community to achieve a full and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, ease the humanitarian crisis, and pursue an early political settlement to the Palestinian question based on the two-state solution.
