TEHRAN, August 21 (Online): At least thirty-five Pakistani pilgrims have been killed and fifteen others critically injured in a bus accident in Iranian city of Yazd.
According to initial reports, the accident occurred due to failure of brakes.
Injured have been shifted to near-by hospital.
Most of the passengers belong to Larkana, Ghotki and other cities of Sindh.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have expressed deep grief and sorrow over loss of precious lives in the tragic bus accident of Pakistani Zaireen in Iran.
The President and the Prime Minister commiserated with the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls.
The President directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to bring the bodies to Pakistan and provide timely aid to the injured.
The Prime Minister said directions have been issued to Pakistan’s mission in Tehran to extend all possible assistance to the affected families.
Meanwhile, Ambassador of Pakistan to Tehran Mudassir Tipu has said Pakistan embassy officials are overseeing emergency arrangements in Yazd where a bus carrying Pakistani pilgrims met an accident.
The ambassador, on his X timeline, assured the maximum facilitation and medical treatment of injured.
He said he is in liaison with the Iranian government and the office of Mayor of Yazd for crucial arrangements.
