M,IR ALI, OCT 26 (ONLINE): 8 persons including 4 security officials were martyred in a suicide attack on police check post in area of Mir Ali in North Waziristan on Saturday.
On information heavy contingent of security forces and rescue personnel reached the scene.
Bodies and injured were shifted to nearby hospital forthwith. Rescue operation was started.
According to police blast was suicide attack and citizens were also hit in the explosion.
Security forces cordoned off the area and started search operation.
A senior police officer said a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden rickshaw into a joint checkpost of military and police. He said that a military vehicle was also targeted in the attack.
The officer said five injured had been shifted to Miranshah hospital where some of them are said to be in critical condition.
Meanwhile, security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati has condemned the attack as a coward attempt. He also expressed sorrow over death of security officials and citizens in the attack.
A day earlier, ten soldiers of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) were martyred when terrorists launched a fierce attack on an FC checkpoint in Darazinda, Dera Ismail Khan.
