Trader killed in police cross fire, family protested for legal action

Islamabad September 05 (Online): A large number of protestors blocked Srinagar Highway after a trader was shot dead in alleged police crossfire in Islamabad on Saturday night.

The deceased trader was identified as Shahid Imran, additional secretary of Islamabad Fresh Milk Association (IFMA) and a resident of Malikwal.
After death of the trader, family, relatives and traders community placed the body on the highway and refused to end their protest till legal action was taken against those involved in the firing incident. Later, the police register a case.

Bilal Nazir Gondal, the victim’s brother-in-law, said that the police registered the case only after the protesters refused to end the demonstration.

The police then registered a case and handed over its copy to the family in the evening. Funeral prayers of the deceased were later offered there.
Long queues of vehicles were seen on other roads of the capital, including IJ Principal Road, Islamabad Expressway as well as around Faizabad due to the protest.
