LAHORE, Dec 11 :Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Wednesday raided a popular super store and imposed fine Rs 150,000 for selling expired goods of a well-known
brand here in Wapda Town.
During the raid, the PFA team confiscated and disposed of 230 kg expired
items from renowned brands. The expired products included items such as
spices, juices, fruit cocktail, chocolates, cheese and cream.
PFA Director General Asim Javed said that strict action was taken after
expired goods were found at the store. “The expired products were immediately
destroyed on-site,” he stated.
The store was also found to be selling expired goods in its racks without
maintaining the required records. As per the PFA, every supermarket should
have a designated section for expired products to ensure consumer safety.
Asim Javed emphasized that the sale and purchase of expired goods was
a serious offense and would be dealt with harshly. “If food business operators
follow the regulations, they will benefit from a consumer-friendly policy,” he added.
