Plan to build a museum near Allama Iqbal tomb

LAHORE, Dec 16 (APP):The Punjab government has decided to build a museum near Mazar-e-Iqbal outside the Badshahi Masjid, and place all items attributed to the Poet of the East Allama Muhammad Iqbal, there.
A meeting was chaired by Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi here on Saturday, which decided that a museum dedicated to Allama Iqbal would be constructed on the premises of the Badshahi Masjid for promotion of Iqbal understanding. All the items used by Allama Iqbal would be displayed at one place, it was decided.

Speaking on the occasion, the caretaker CM said the museum attributed to the Poet of the East would be an unexpected blessing for those who had a taste for the Iqbal knowledge. Naqvi ordered for installing the best tiles on the premises of Mazar-i-Iqbal and providing the highest quality red sandstone and super white marble for the mausoleum. It was also decided in the meeting to restore rooms of Badshahi Masjid to the pristine condition.

Senior Member Board of Revenue Nabil Javed, while giving a briefing about upgradation of the museum and Mazar-i-Iqbal, said that the book shop on the right side of Allama Iqbal’s Mazar would have all books of Allama Iqbal; souvenir and craft shops would also be established at the museum.
The meeting was also informed that the inner marble of Allama Iqbal’s shrine would be washed and polished, the the roof would be specially waterproofed. Moreover, the canteen and shoe-rack would also be moved to a suitable place.

Nayar Ali Dada, Muneeb Iqbal, Iqbal Salahuddin, Senior Member Board of Revenue, DG Walled City Authority, Secretary Auqaf, Head of Iqbal Academy and other officials participated in the meeting.
