Meeting held to prevent lumpy skin disease in animals in KP

PESHAWAR, Mar 08 (Online): An emergency meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr Muhammad Israr Khan, Secretary Agriculture and Livestock, in the context of the outbreak of Lumpy Skin Disease in animals.

The meeting was attended by Dr Alamzeb Director General Livestock Extention, Muhammad Ijaz Ali Director General livestock Research and District Officers of Livestock Department across the province.
At the meeting, DG Livestock Expansion informed that the disease has not been reported in the province yet.

The meeting also directed all the district officers to consult the formation of task force committee and its responsibilities. In particular, instructions have been issued to set up 26 check posts in Abbottabad, Charsadda, DI Khan, Peshawar, Mansehra, Haripur, Nowshera, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Swabi, Sub Division Dara Zinda / Jandola and South Waziristan.

The technical staff of the Livestock Department will be deployed to assess the effects of the disease in the animals entering Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from other provinces and to identify the affected animals immediately and at the same time prevent entry and Start spraying campaign immediately.

Secretary Agriculture and Livestock Dr Muhammad Israr on the occasion assured the concerned officers that the provincial government would extend full support to the department and stressed that the disease awareness campaign among the people of the province should be conducted in a coordinated manner and on a daily basis. The provincial government should also be informed about the measures taken against the disease.
