Peshawar, September 21 (ONLINE): Zafar Ullah Khan Umerzai, the Special Assistant to the Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Transport and Housing on Thursday, inaugurated a new feeder route, DR-4B, which connects Chamkani to Malik Saad via Ring Road. The inauguration ceremony took place at the BRT Chamkani Station and was attended by Aamer Nadeem Durrani, the caretaker minister for Local Government and Public Health Engineering, along with other officials including Secretary of Transport Zia Ul Haq, Secretary of Housing Anber Ali Khan and CEO of Trans Peshawar Tariq Uman Saeed.
Following the inauguration, Zafar Ullah Khan Umerzai addressed the media and refuted rumors of any discontinuation of BRT services. He emphasized that the BRT system ranks as number one in South Asia and Pakistan and seventh globally. The BRT has received numerous international awards for providing excellent transportation facilities.
Furthermore, he provided updates on the construction progress of BRT plazas, noting that 90 percent of the work on Chamkani plaza is completed, 30 percent on Dabgari Garden, and 70 percent on Hayatabad.
Zafar Ullah Khan stressed the significance of efficient and accessible public transportation in promoting sustainable urban development and enhancing the quality of life for Peshawar’s residents. He outlined the route of the new feeder route, consisting of 19 stops including Chamkani, Sardar Garhi, Chughal Pura, Government Primary School, Pir Zakori Bridge, Motorway Bridge, Kamboh Adda, Pahari Pura, Kabutar Chowk, MMC Hospital, Wazir Colony, Abasyn University, Patang Chowk, Shaheed Tahseen Chowk, Charsadda Adda, Eidgah, Shahi Bagh, Bacha Khan Chowk, and Malik Saad Shaheed.
Zafar Ullah Khan also highlighted that Zu Peshawar serves approximately 300,000 passengers daily, playing a vital role in the city’s transportation network. As part of the inauguration, the Special Assistant personally travelled on a BRT bus along the new feeder route.
