Govt has decided to Irrigation law effective to prevent water theft

Peshawar December 23 (OnLine): Provincial Minister for Irrigation Arshad Ayub has said that it has been decided to make laws effective to prevent water theft.

Irrigation is necessary for Food security. Farmers should be given priority in water distribution, so that the water problems of the farmers can be solved. Public welfare projects should be completed as soon as possible.

Chief Engineer North Nasir ghafoor Khan, SE PIC Ghulam Ishaq and other officials were present during the briefing. During the briefing, Chief Engineer North Nasir Ghafoor Khan briefed in detail about the ongoing projects of Irrigation Department in North Zone and also informed about the progress of ongoing work on other projects including Shamizai Irrigation Scheme Swat, Khanpur Dam and issues faced to them.

Provincial Minister for Irrigation Arshad Ayub appreciated the performance of North Zone and expressed interest in various projects. He said that the briefing of Irrigation North Zone would continue in future also.

The Chief Engineer briefed in detail about the ongoing IT projects in the department and also took a tour of the newly estiblished IT Lab in the office.
