PESHAWAR, July 12 (ONLINE): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety & Halal Food Authority (FS & HFA) Mardan while acting on a tip-off, seized 135 bags (about 3400 kg) of banned China salt from a store at Toro Chowk in Mardan district.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Director Alif Khan and Food Safety Officer Massab Javed. According to details, the China salt was being supplied to different restaurants and grocery shops of Mardan ..

Due to adverse effects on human body like stunted body growth, causing high blood pressure and breaking down of nervous system, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had imposed a ban on trade of China Salt in March 2018.

In a press release issued here Wednesday, Deputy Director FS & HFA Mardan Division, Kamran Khan said Mardan district was earlier notorious for food adulterations like adulterated Gurr (Jaggery) prepared from sugar and chemicals, counterfeited cold drinks of multinational brands, low quality juices, ice-creams and pops. However, he added, with the continuous and rigorous efforts of the field team, things have now improved considerably.

He said the FS & HFA aims to provide clean and hygienic food to the general public and no one would be allowed to play with the health of the people.
