HYDERABAD, May 16 (APP): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has notified the District Returning Officer (DRO), Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) for the second phase of local government (LG) elections to be held on July 24 in Hyderabad district.
According to the notification, Regional Election Commissioner Ali Abdullah Khalid has been assigned the responsibility of DRO.
For the 160 Union Committees (UCs) of 9 Town Municipal Corporations (TMCs) of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC) 26 ROs and 52 AROs had been appointed.
As per the LG elections schedule, the ROs would start issuing the nomination papers from June 3 while the candidates could submit the papers from June 8 to 11.
The ROs would publish names of the candidates who had submitted the papers on June 13 while the scrutiny of the papers would be carried out from June 15 to 17.
The candidates would be given 5 days to file appeals against decisions of the ROs from June 18 to June 22 and the appellate authority would give decisions over the appeals by June 25.
The revised list of candidates would be published on June 27 and the candidates would be allowed to withdraw from the electoral contest by June 28.
The ECP would allot symbols to the candidates on June 29.
The polling would be held on July 24 and the ECP would take 4 days to consolidate the results by July 28.
