DC Dera engages religious leaders to foster harmony during Muharram

DERA ISMAIL KHAN , Jun 26 : All necessary measures are being taken to ensure peace and promote inter-sect harmony during the holy month of Muharram, said Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dera Ismail Khan, Abdul Nasir Khan, during separate meetings with delegations of Shia and Sunni religious scholars held at the DC Office Conference Hall.
The meetings were also attended by Additional DC General Adnan Jameel, Additional DC Relief Gulfam Abbas Shah, and other district officers.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC assured that all previously agreed-upon arrangements related to Muharram would be strictly implemented. He emphasized that no individual would be allowed to take the law into their own hands.
The DC appealed to the scholars and elders of both sects to once again play their vital role in maintaining peace and brotherhood in the district, as they had done in the past.
He further stated that instructions had already been issued to the TMA, WAPDA and other relevant departments to complete all necessary arrangements well before Ashura, in order to avoid any last-minute difficulties.
The DC added that a comprehensive security plan had been devised in collaboration with local administration, police and other law enforcement agencies to effectively respond to any situation.
Expressing hope for continued peace in the region, he urged that keeping peace in the area is very important. He asked people from all religious groups to show respect, patience, and understanding toward each other. He said the future of everyone in the city—no matter their background or beliefs—depends on staying united and peaceful.
