Bahara Kahu bypass project: IHC reserves judgment

ISLAMABAD, Dec 09 (Online): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved judgment after hearing the arguments of lawyers of respondents against the construction on some part of Quaid-e-Azam university land in connection with Bahara Kahu by pass project.

The court sought details of work and expenses regarding Bahara Kahu by pass project.

Justice Mian Gulhassan Aurangzeb took up for hearing the petition filed by the professors of Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU),

The counsel for the lawyers of QAU told the court it is established fact that QAU land has been used in by pass project. The problem is ownership of land. CDA is of the view land has been given to QAU on lease. The syndicate gave permission to pass road from university land for Bahara Kahu bypass project on conditional basis.

The court inquired if CDA and other respondents accept the conditions then what will be your position.

The counsel for the citizens completed his arguments in support of project.

He told the court through his arguments the citizens are waiting for this project since decades. The court will have to see which basic right has to be given more importance. The question is this can there be problems of any kind for university students due to construction of the project. The reply is No.

The court reserved judgment after hearing the arguments which will be announced on December 12.
