LAHORE, Apr 19 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday acquitted Capt (retd) Usman in 2014 Model Town Tragedy case.

ATC Judge Ejaz Ahmad Buttar announced the verdict while allowing an acquittal application filed by Capt (retd) Usman.

Capt (retd) Usman had submitted that he was serving as deputy commissioner Lahore at the time of the tragedy and he assumed the charge of office a day earlier.

He submitted that he did not have any link with the case but he was implicated only for being the deputy commissioner. He submitted that prosecution did not have any evidence against him. He pleaded with the court to acquit him from the charges.

Meanwhile, the court also acquitted 40 workers of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) in a ruckus case due to insufficient evidence.
