Asiya Bibi recovered from Toba Tek Singh after 16 years

Islamabad, April 15 (Online): Asiya Bibi of Azad Kashmir, who was abducted from Islamabad at the age of 13 in 2008, was recovered from Toba Tek Singh after 16 years. According to media reports, the abductor sold Asiya to an elderly man, who married her. Asiya’s request in a video went viral for her recovery, in which she disclosed about the cruelty meted out by the abductor and requested to meet her parents.

After seeing the video, the heirs contacted Chak Shahzad police station, Islamabad. According to the police spokesman, Asiya Bibi was recovered from an elderly man’s house in Toba Singh.
The abductor named Mustafa, a resident of Islamabad, had abducted Asiya Bibi from Chak Shahzad area of Islamabad and sold an elderly man in Roti, a suburb of Toba Tek Singh, for marriage.
After recovery the victim was transferred to Darul Aman. According to the police spokesman, Asiya will be handed over to the Islamabad police.
