13,000 govt employees will perform duty in local body’s election in Mardan

MARDAN December 14 (Online): More than 13,000 male and female government employees who will perform duty in the local body’s election in Mardan district will be deprived of using their votes, the education department sends the names of such private school female teachers for polling day duty who have died or left their jobs.

Sources said. Sources added that in previous elections the government employees who were performing duty on polling day use their votes through postal ballots.

Sources added that in the upcoming local body’s elections more than 7,430 security personnel will perform security duties on polling day in Mardan district. Sources added that 2,824 police cops, 700 watchmen, 56 civil defense volunteers, 1,350 LHW and LHV and 2,500 FC will perform duties in Mardan district. Sources added that more than 3,500 male and 3,000 female teachers will perform duties at different polling stations on polling day.

Sources added that the majority of these government employees belong to Mardan district however they will not cast their votes in the upcoming local bodies election and more than 13, 0000 government employees will be deprived of their right of vote.

Sources further said that the education department without the consultation of the heads of private schools send the names of female teachers to district administration for election duty in which the majority of the teachers have left the job while some teachers have died.

Sources added that the education department also sends the name of such government female teachers who are pregnant or suffering from other diseases and the doctors stopped them from performing election duties however the education department sends their name to district administration and the district administration has imposed their duty due to which these female teachers are worried.

Sources added that the district administration will also face a lot of problems on polling day. Majority of the female teachers who performed duty in the previous election said that there was no facility for the female teachers.

They added that they perform duty all the day at polling stations and when the polling process is completed in the evening they spend all the night to hand over the ballet boxes and ballet paper and results to the concerned people and due to this reason majority of the female teachers are not ready to perform duty in the election.
