Supreme Court to hear alleged illegal detention case of Parvez Elahi on October 5

ISLAMABAD Oct 01 (Online): The Supreme Court (SC) on October 05 (Thursday) will hear the petition filed by his wife Qaisara Elahi against the alleged illegal detention of former Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi.

Three member bench of SC headed by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, will hear the petition.

Notices have been issued to the parties in this regard.

It should be noted that in the Supreme Court, a three-member bench headed by Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan had heard Parvez Elahi’s bail application and during the hearing, Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan remarked that how can the court go against the constitution?

The petitioner did not make any illegal demand. The Supreme Court while issuing the orders to Lahore High Court (LHC) to decide on Pervez Elahi’s petitions on August 21 adjourned the hearing of the case for an indefinite period, which has now been fixed for re-hearing.

It is to be remembered that the Lahore High Court had rejected Parvez Elahi’s bail in an interim order, while the former chief minister had requested the Supreme Court to annul the decision of July 17.

Along with this case, some other petitions have also been fixed for hearing therefore the case will be heard by a three-member bench headed by Justice Tariq Masood instead of the bench headed by Justice Ijazul Hassan.
