ISLAMABAD, Nov 15 (Online): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed has taken notice of illegal sale of Evacuee Trust Properties (ETP) and summoned chairman ETP and DG FIA in suo motu notice of minorities rights.
The CJP remarked Evacuee Trust Board (ETB) has sold out all the property. Under what law the evacuee trust properties were sold out . How can the evacuee trust properties be sold out. Selling evacuee trust property is violation of the law. They sold out properties of millions of rupees and devoured. This way the purpose of setting up ETB has been defeated. ETB failed in discharging its obligations. ETB officers have made the minorities properties their personal properties.
A two members bench of Supreme Court (SC) presided over by the CJP Gulzar Ahmed took up the case for hearing Monday. CJP while addressing the counsel for ETB remarked call the chairman ETB forthwith.
The counsel for the ETB told the court chairman ETB is in Lahore. Please give the time till tomorrow. Chairman will appear. The CJP remarked “when it is known that the case is fixed then as to why chairman went to Lahore. No time can be given. We will hear the case today. Call the DG FIA. We will ask from him.
During this time Pattern-in-Chief Hindu Council Ramesh Kumar while pointing out the attack on him told the court some unknown persons attacked him in Karachi. CJP while summoning report from IG Sindh about attack on Ramesh Kumar till tomorrow remarked IG Sindh should ensure that no untoward incident occurs in future. The court while summoning chairman ETB and DG FIA on the occasion adjourned the hearing of the case for one day.
